  • What kind of cabinetry will give me more space to put things?

If you have limited space, the best type of cabinetry would be overhead wall-mounted cabinets that use bare or unused space, or cabinets that are installed under free-standing benchtops. Cabinets with internal shelving or draws can improve your storage, especially when space is limited.

  • Do I need to use a contractor for my remodel?

You could possibly handle the project yourself, depending on the complexity of the remodel. You will need to make sure you have the right tools and materials, the time, the knowledge and the patience. Contractors will usually already have the tools and experience required to complete the job efficiently. A quote from a contractor will most likely cover all expenses and, if they’re experienced, they will potentially finish the job in less time.

  • Are laminates just as dependable as stone benchtops?

For the most part, laminates can handle normal wear and tear just as well as stone benchtops. Laminates are non-porous, so they do not absorb water or stains. However, they are more susceptible to scratches and water damage, especially if the water gets underneath the laminate.

Stone benchtops are more durable, resistant to scratches and burns from hot dishes, pots, pans etc. Stone benchtops last 3 to 5 times longer than laminates will. If you have the budget, stone benches are the better material to use.

  • What can I do to lower my costs?

Maybe you could choose a different material that is less expensive. You could also cut down on the features you’ve chosen to include. You can even cut costs by doing some of the work yourself.

  • How long will it take to remodel my kitchen, bathroom, laundry or other space?

This depends on several factors including size, scope, material availability, whether you are doing it yourself or using a contractor and whether any unexpected issues arise. Most kitchens take approximately 25–30 days to make, order and deliver. The installation timeframes should take around 1–2 days depending on the scale of work. Stone benchtops take around 10 days after the cabinetry has been installed as templates need to be done. Laminate benchtops are usually installed with the cabinetry on the same day.
